i want your opinions!!
wanna start a discussion online.. the question is,
Can a good God exist in the midst of evil and natural disasters?
An atheist friend of mine (yes, it's you) asked me this question, and i was stumped, as usual (i'm always left speechless when he starts talking) ..
1. Why is it that Man (except Adam and Eve) are born evil? That we don't have a choice as to whether or not to be evil, in the first place. We're assumed to be sinful. With this in mind, can God be good?
2. Why is it that God allows natural disasters to occur? And more often than not, they take away innocent lives and cause chaos. Nothing we did caused these. And there's nothing we can do to prevent these.
3. What happens to those who died without hearing the gospel? Those who can't understand the gospel?
The purpose of philosophy is never to complicate, but to simplify. Never to confuse, but to enlighten.
Food for thought.. For believers of evolution.. (personally, i believe in natural selection leading to 'evolution') But i have doubts about man and apes having the same ancestors.. One question is.. in the tsunami, no animal is found dead.. this is due to their natural instincts and whathaveyou.. why is it that man, and only man, dun have such instincts? And we claim to be the highest form of life. Could this suggests that Man are more than animals? Or does it suggests that Man are so stupid and full of themselves that they can't escape a simple wave in the ocean that even ants can escape?

Question 1.. If God allowed sin to exist in the world so that He can portray His unconditional love by dying for us, isn't that a lil too sadist? And wouldn't it contradict His 'unconditional' love as billions of His beloved creations would perish in hell due to lack of belief in God..
Question 1.1.. i'm not asking why God allowed sin to persist in the world, but rather why we're borned sinful.. We're assumed to be sinful.. why?
Question 2.. i'm not asking about sufferings that arise due to evil and sinful acts, for these are but fruits of man's actions.. wad i'm questioning is about natural disasters.. disasters that are not due to sinful acts or evil..
For Qn 2..
Perhaps God wants to warn us about the fragility of life, the world as out of man's control.. And also about probable similar incidents that could happen and He wants to prepare us for them..
Wad i heard is that volcanos near Spain or wherever that is could erupt in the seas and cause a tsunami of greater impact to the European countries.. And now there's a greater awareness about this threat.. Also, it's a blessing in disguise that it's the developing countries that are hit. (sounds a lil sadist) But objectively, the developed countries have the resources to help out in the developing countries.. If it's the developed countries that are hit, the losses would be even more serious, with economic crisis and serious building destruction..
